My mission is to spread the healing truth about God, Jesus and who we really are. I know that God exists, Jesus lives, and miracles happen. Because I have gone through it myself, I believe I can help those who are suffering from emotional or mental disorders linked to false perceptions (stemming largely from unrecognized and unprocessed childhood trauma, often associated with fundamentalist religious indoctrination) and doubts about the existence of a divine creative force that loves all of us equally and unconditionally. My book Kundalini and the Gift of the Morning Star: A True Story of Suffering, Miracles and Enlightenment (combination of self-help and memoir) was written to accomplish that. The book is about 230 full-size pages (93,000 words), and is available on Amazon. All proceeds go directly to supporting my mission of empowering and healing those who are suffering from mental distress. Feedback has been extremely positive (see Feedback and Testimonials). During my spiritual journey, I have experienced and overcome panic attacks, severe depression and even psychosis (associated with a fundamentalist religious upbringing). In addition, I have been healed of various physical ailments, including cancer. I offer encouragement and guidance, derived mainly from my own experience, on doing "self-therapy" from a transpersonal (Jungian) perspective. Although I used the services of psychologists and psychiatrists on several occasions during my journey, my healing has been due mainly to intensive introspection, the support of family, and divine grace. I consider myself to be a "wounded helper".
I am here to offer hope and guidance based on the lessons I learned during my own struggle. From personal experience and research, I am convinced that mental illness has a reason, and is not caused by a biochemical imbalance (although such imbalances can be a result). By examining our history (or 'herstory') and paying close attention to our dreams, it is possible to understand the cause of our suffering, experience and release our repressed feelings, and obtain freedom from fear, guilt, shame and depression without the need for long-term medication. Note - Please follow your medical practitioner's advice, and never stop taking prescribed medication without authorization.
My goal is to become a principal venue for empowerment and healing for people with mental illnesses and their families. My experience has been that the path to empowerment and healing includes:
o recognition and integration of the Divine Feminine, which has been subjugated by thousands of years of patriarchy, and
o liberation of the divine child within us all.
My mission is no less than the undoing of the harm caused by the traditional interpretation of the Genesis myth. This is eloquently expressed in the following poem by David Loye, as printed in the book by Riane Eisler (celebrated author of The Chalice and the Blade) titled Sacred Pleasure: Sex, Myth and the Politics of the Body - New Paths to Power and Love (HarperSanFrancisco, 1995):
The New Adam and the New Eve
I had a terrible dream, she said.
You're safe, he murmured, cradling her.
No, it was terrible, she said, I cannot sleep.
I still see that glorious garden, the birds,
the fruits, the clear streams with pebbles of
agate and the trancelike wandering of green fish,
and you were there, and for a time it was good,
but then this terrifying old man came and told me
I must not think for myself. And soon the snake
came and said - He laughed. A talking snake!
Don't laugh, please don't laugh! She shuddered.
This was so real, more real than now, much more.
The snake offered me a brain and mind and when
I took them the old man came rushing in, his eyes
exploding, his mouth aghast, and cursing with
hurricane force he threw us from the garden.
And you blamed me, she cried, and in a world
of misery we fought for five thousand years.
The sun touched the window sill, touched
her hair: he touched the gold along her neck
and back and sighing she rolled over and for
a long time they held each other, then she rose.
Come see, she called, joyous beside the window.
In poured the full glory of the morning, the
copper-gold of sky, the far-off crowing, the
clear, muted laughter along the river, the
light, cool fragrance in from the fields.
It will be a good day, he said, smiling.
And night, she said. For years, they
both thought. For years and years.

We are all on a spiritual journey of discovering our own innocence and divinity. Mythologist Joseph Campbell called it the 'hero's journey'. Along the way, we will come to remember that the universe is a safe place and that we are both lovable and loved. Our journey may involve painful times when we feel lost in panic, depression or even psychosis. These are incredible opportunities for growth. The Spirit knows the way.
